Gloria Esenwein is a dancer/performer/choreographer/ educator/singer. In 2008 she produced “Dance, Music, Story!  An Evening  with Gloria Esenwein and Friends. She co-founded National Tap Dance Day Celebration in Cincinnati, now in its 15th year. She is a member of the artists’ pool of Inside/Outside, an integrated arts program at River City Correctional Facility, and co-leads an annual Women’s Art Retreat,  based on that work. Her classes and workshops are presented in a variety of venues in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Gloria has appeared in works by choreographers, Fanchon Shur, Diane Germaine, Shawn Womack, and Liz Lerman, among others, and has taught modern, jazz, and improvisation as a 25+ year member of the Cincinnati dance community.  She has led dance/movement classes/workshops for a variety of populations, including senior citizens, health-care facility residents/staff, and adults with MRDD.  In 2001, she established Women of Sole, a Cincinnati tap troupe. She is thankful to have been a tap student of Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Buster Brown, and Brenda Bufalino, and to Contemporary Dance Theater for providing a space for her growth as a dancer/teacher/choreographer.  She is a Licensed Massage Therapist, and has a BS in Education from Indiana University.

Gloria believes all people have an inherent desire for balance and wholeness.  Her movement  work with residents in healthcare facilities, and her study of movement and massage, inform her teaching.  She appreciates that each of us learns in highly individualistic ways and she enjoys discovering what works for her students.
